_1454 Newton Mearns Parish Church "<p>In 1739 a congregation of worshippers from Mearns, Eaglesham and Neilston formed and decided to build a church in what we now know as Newton Mearns. The church took four years to build. The present church is the fourth, and second to be built on the present site.
