"<p>In this beautifully decorated 19th century building you can see historic medical instruments, rare books and art, and find out how we've helped doctors, surgeons and dentists to stay at the cutting edge for over 400 years.<\/p>\n<p>The College was founded in 1599 and moved into its current home in 1862. Today the College is a bustling centre of medical education and examination, as well as being an accredited museum. <br \/><br \/>You can see some of our amazing collections of medical instruments, rare books and archives, and learn more about medicine and surgery in old Glasgow. We'll also have a showcase of the exciting work we're doing to combine our heritage collections with Medical Visualisation technology.<br \/><br \/>And we're not just about medicine! You can also view our copy of John James Audubon's breath-taking "Birds of America" and browse the artwork on display throughout the College.<br \/><br \/>In 2017 the building underwent a large refurbishment programme, expanding our on-site clinical skills facilities and modernising our lecture theatres and meeting spaces. This means the College is busier than ever, and Doors Open Day provides you with a unique chance to fully explore every part of the building in a single visit.<\/p>"
