The talk will take a closer look at Sir JJ Burnet's subtle design for the Glasgow Cenotaph with its superb sculpture by Ernest Gillick. The talk will demonstrate how the Glasgow Cenotaph fits into Sir JJ Burnet's oeuvre and seek to illustrate how it fits into the hierarchy and sequence of war memorials Burnet produced for the Imperial War Graves commission amongst others.
