"<p>Jedburgh Community and Arts Centre\ufffdis housed in St. John\ufffds Old School, a listed building designed by the Victorian architect\ufffdWilliam Butterfield, designer of Keble College, Oxford, and other famous buildings.<\/p><p>The premises are managed by a volunteer committee of Trustees, on behalf of the local population, for recreational, leisure, cultural and educational pursuits.\ufffd<\/p><p>For more than a century the building was a school for the people of Jedburgh until it was superseded by the Jedburgh Grammar School in the mid-1950s.<\/p><p>After a period of decline the JC&AC volunteers took over its management and, with the help of various grants undertook its thorough refurbishment.\ufffd<\/p><p>\ufffd<\/p>"
