Visit International land artist Andy Goldsworthy’s iconic red sandstone Striding Arches. Walkers will enjoy climbing to the arches on the surrounding hilltops in order to experience how the arches interact with the landscape, whilst everyone can explore the arch at the Byre and spy the arch on the hilltop looking back down the valley.

Saturday 26th:
Members of the Cairnhead Community Forest Trust will be available to talk about Striding Arches and Cairnhead. 11.00am – 4.00pm. Please note that the road is rough in places and there are few passing areas, so care must be taken when driving.
Sunday 27th:
Visits to the site on the free bus leaving at 12.15pm and 1.45pm (disabled access) from Dalwhat Garage Forecourt, Moniaive. A further bus (no disabled access), leaving from the Striding Arches car park at regular intervals will take you up to within 1/4 mile of the Colt Hill Arch (598m). These buses will be leaving the Striding Arches car park at 12.45 and 2.05 and as spaces are limited should be booked through Melville Brotherston on 01848 200673 by 26th September. The last bus will be leaving the Arches at 3.15pm.
2.00 - 3.15pm Join Cairnhead Community Forest Trust for their free community BBQ at the Byre.
2.30 – 3.15pm Enjoy celebrated local poet Rab Wilson’s readings from his haunting Scots sonnet sequence ‘Cormilligan’, recording an episode of the Lowland Victorian diaspora as seen through the eyes of a Dumfriesshire family: the McCaws.
Directions
Take the A702 to Moniaive. Turn up North Street by the house with the clock tower. Striding Arches is 7 miles further along this road. Please note that the road is unmade in places and there are few passing areas, so care must be taken when driving. (Near Moniaive)

Saturday 26th: Please park by the information panels below the Byre. Parking for 8 cars.
Disabled parking on slope to Byre. Parking for 3 cars.
Sunday 27th: Parking for 8 cars. Please keep access and turning area clear for buses by information panels.
Refreshments: Sunday 2pm - 3.15pm (free community BBQ at the Byre)
