The School of Education & Social Work is based in two adjacent buildings, which were linked together in 2002. The grand Scots baronial-style Old Medical School was built by J Murray Robertson in 1902-4 while its neighbour, the French-style Carnelley Building, designed by Mills & Shepherd, was the University's first purpose-built building when it opened in 1883.
