HarperCollins Archive

Description

HarperCollins Publishers have been on their site in Bishopbriggs since 1967. The history of this great publisher began in 1819 in Glasgow, when the first William Collins went into business with Charles Chalmers to establish a printing and publishing business. Since that time Collins has been a place of great innovation and creativity, publishing such world class authors as Agatha Christie, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. The archive includes fascinating letters from Tolkien, Christie, Patrick O'Brian and others, that give a real insight into the minds of these authors.

The Cartographic Department evolved from the world famous map making firm of Bartholomew. Their award winning maps and atlases?include the world renowned Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World.
