Meadowburn Primary School

Meadowburn Primary School was opened to pupils in April 1969. A few years later, in 1988, Strathclyde Regional Council decided to set aside annual funding to provide a Gaelic and English bilingual teaching unit at the school, providing for 12 pupils. It was inspired by the success of a similar unit set up in 1985 at the Sir John Maxwell Primary School on the south side of Glasgow.

The school is taking part in Doors Open Day this year to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Gaelic Unit. As well as relevant displays a range of other events will be happening in and around the school during Doors Open Day.
