The building is a purpose built Roman Catholic Church constructed in the mid-1980s and completed in 1987. The Church contains a number of highly detailed mosaics designed by Peter Connolly, former head of art at Notre Dame Teacher Training College. St Andrew's Parish was founded in 1967. What is currently the church hall was the former church building.
