Scottish architect Archibald Elliot designed the building in 1819. It was once the home to Joseph Lister, pioneer of antiseptic surgery and has been a listed building since 1970. It houses two custom made stills, Flora and Caledonia, that distill Edinburgh Gin. It details the history of Edinburgh�s 400 illegal stills in 1977 and the secrets behind the making of Edinburgh Gin.
