1 High Shore, Banff
Dublin Core
Title
Description
Dating from around 1676, this old merchants house was once where multiple families shared lodgings. A stone spiral staircase takes you up 3 floors to explore, where much of the original decorations can still be seen on the timbers. Almost every room has unusual nooks and crannies and corners opening off, and the house has its own private lookout tower. Only open to the public on Doors Open Days - this is a must see!

Activities
The Banff Preservation Society, as it then was, restored this house, and is delighted to see it so well looked after since. Its neighbours on High Shore are also very fine old houses and include the Silversmiths house and the Market Arms Inn, the oldest continuously occupied building in Banff.
