Title

Aberdeenshire Council Museums Service Discovery Centre

Description

Aberdeenshire Museums Service HQ (AMS) is the first publicly accessible store for the county?s museum service, and was built with a substantial grant from Heritage Lottery Fund. It is a purpose-built museum storage facility and visitor centre, as well as housing the service?s technical workshops. This state of the art facility includes 810 square metres of environmentally controlled storage space, housing collections ranging from fine art to botanical specimens.

The store will be open to visitors for guided tours and an introduction behind-the-scenes-at-the-museum, with the photographic suite, conservation unit, education resources, stores and lots lots more. The guide will have lots of stories to tell about objects, and will let you see just how much goes into caring for collections and making them accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.
