McNeil House

Dublin Core

Title

McNeil House

Description

McNeil House is a recently completed home for the McNeil Trust, a charity formed under the auspice of the Christian Science Church. This is a six bedroom, 4,500 square foot house which nestles into the hillside of the previously unused garden plot belonging to the Trust. It has been designed in an intentionally contemporary design style by Lorn Macneal Architects with an inverted floor plan arrangement. This ensures the principal rooms with balconies can optimise the southern aspects over the Pentland Hills, with all bedrooms having direct access into the courtyard garden below. It embraces renewable technologies including ground source heat pumps.
