Registers of Scotland Executive Agency

Registers of Scotland is the government department

responsible for registers relating to property and other legal documents in Scotland. They maintain 17 public registers. The two main registers, the General Register of Sasines and the Land Register, are the official records of who owns what in Scotland. As the first country in the world to officially record property ownership, there is a long and important history.
