            <text>&lt;p&gt;Doors Open Day 2018:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;When you visit, you�ll have the chance to learn about the fascinating historical significance of the Govan Stones. At 12:30 on Saturday 15th September, Professor Stephen Driscoll from the University of Glasgow will give a short background on the importance of the site and the archaeological excavations he conducted at Govan with Channel 4�s �Time Team� in the 1990s. This will be followed by an update on the plans for the major redevelopment of Govan Old due to begin in 2019.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; Throughout Doors Open Weekend we�ll also be having fun with free arts &amp;amp; crafts sessions! How would you like to paint your own Viking shield? Or try your hand with a quill and parchment to become a medieval scribe? How about making colourful artworks inspired by our stained-glass windows? These are just a few of the family-friendly activities we�re offering across Saturday and Sunday. On both days you can also explore what life was like in the medieval period through archaeological artefact handling and costume activities!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;You�ll also have an opportunity to find out more about how an organ is used to make music. �On Saturday Govan Old is teaming up with the Glasgow Society of Organists to showcase the fabulous Brindley and Foster Organ for visitors of all ages.
