Title

Shearer Candles

Description

Venture behind the scenes of a working candle factory in Govan. Witness the different mesmerising production techniques perfected over 120 years by the UKs oldest candle manufacturer as we manipulate masses of molten wax!

Learn about our companys long-standing history and our relationship with Glasgow. Get an insight into how candle making and the machinery we use has evolved over the years with this guided tour of our working factory in Govan.

We will walk you through the life-span of a candle, from drawing board, to wax, wick, colour, scent, testing and through to first flame.

Our founders Mr Shearer and Mr Harvey initially worked in the Candleriggs area (one of Glasgows oldest streets and its historic home of candle making) before opening their own factory on the city outskirts over 120 years ago, in 1897.

Today, our founders would be astonished to see our factory full of cutting-edge candle making technology, and to know that Shearer Candles are popular the world over.

Whilst much has changed, Shearer Candles are still recognised for our artisanal approach, attention to detail and craftsmanship.
