Courthouse

Dublin Core

Title

Courthouse

Description

Although now serving as offices for The Highland Council, Nairn Court House was originally buiIt in 1817-18 as a prison and courthouse. The building was extensively altered and extended in 1868-1870 by Elgin architects, A & W Reid. Although the building has been modernised, the coved and enriched ceiling remains in the former courtroom, and the original cells and prison exercise yard can still be seen.
