Castle Leod
Dublin Core
Title
Castle Leod
Description
Castle Leod is the finest 14th Century Tower House in Ross & Cromarty. It is a Grade A Listed Building of great historical importance and architectural merit, and is remarkable in that it has survived in relatively good condition up to the present day. Its survival is largely due to it being the ancestral home of the Clan Mackenzie, a large and powerful Highland clan that ruled the area. The Clan Mackenzie Charitable Trust has plans to see the building fully restored.
