Description
One of the largest new timber buildings in the UK, designed by HRI Architects, Inverness with Hurd Rolland Partnership, this building was officially opened in January 2007.
As an example of what can be achieved by using locally grown and certified timber, the building has been designed to be environmentally sustainable and highly energy efficient and features include an underground wood fuel bunker which feeds a carbon neutral biomass boiler. An underground storage tank collects rainwater from the roof.
