Join with us as we celebrate the life & times of Greenock’s most famous son – James Watt.
We will visit all the local places identified with Watt, his birthplace ,the buildings commemorating him and conclude by visiting his Cairn at the cemetery.
In this, the bicentenary of his death, we acknowledge his significant contribution to the world economy and changes to the social order.
His legacy to the world was his scientific & engineering skills in developing the steam engine converting it into the workhorse of the Industrial Revolution driven by efficient, reliable motive power transforming the economies of the world, and bringing immense social change attracting millions of rural families to the towns and cities.
Tour leaves from Kilblain Street Bus Station, Greenock and free car parking is available at nearby Hastie Street, PA 15 1SR
Bus leaves at 10.30 returning 12.30
