Description

The buildings, designed by Peddie and Kinnear of Edinburgh, opened in 1869 and provided accommodation for the Sheriff, Sheriff Clerk and the Procurator Fiscal as well as living quarters for the caretaker.

The two storey building is in the Scottish Baronial style with corner turrets and 140 foot high central tower. The new court building, designed by PSA Architects was added in 1980-81.
