Description

Founded as a house of Valliscaulian monks in 1230 by Alexander II. Bought by the Marquess of Bute in 1889 and gifted in 1948 to the Benedictine monks of Prinknash who restored and re-roofed the transepts, crossing and chancel of the medieval structure. The massive precinct walls contain some bee-boles with Gothic lintels.
