Category B Listed Building built by Sir John Gladstone, the church was gifted to the Diocese of Brechin. In the nave, which is faced with Caen stone, there is a high relief marble monument of Sir John and his wife, Ann Robertson. The plain rectangular building was enlarged 20 years later when his son Sir Thomas added a chancel.
