Documentation can be found at http://github/MetsExport/ Church of the Holy Name Scottish Episcopal Church <p><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 7.5pt;">The Foundation Stone for the Church was laid in 1961 and the church was completed in 1962.<span> </span>It was the first new church to be built in the new town of Cumbernauld. As the church was to serve the whole town a site on top of the hill near to the Town centre was chosen.</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 7.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 7.5pt;">The design of the building was influenced by what became known as the New Liturgical Movement.<span> </span>Instead of the usual arrangement the nave is wider than it is long. <span> </span>This means the congregation are much closer to the altar.</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 7.5pt;"> </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 7.5pt;">Above the altar is a beautiful wooden carving of Christ the King in the shape of a cross and we have a peaceful Lady Chapel which will be open for quiet prayer and meditation all day.<span> </span><span> </span></span></p><p> </p> 1962 Museum 3055 current,55.94971,-3.988954; 15 Fleming Road Cumbernauld 13170 No Seafar 12/9/2015 12 noon to 4 pm <p>Take a tour of the Church and see the Church Vestments and floral arrangements in their Liturgical Colours which represents the seasons of the church year. The Lady Chapel will also be open for quiet prayer and meditation with music.</p><p><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 7.5pt;">There will be information available from the various groups who use the church hall as well as a taster session for Baby Sensory. There will also be a Guess the Teddy's Birthday competition.<span> </span>Craft sessions for the young and young at heart will be held in the Vestry. Refreshments will also be available all afternoon.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 7.5pt;">Information leaflets about the church, it's history and involvement in the Community will also be available.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 7.5pt;">Services at Holy Name: Sundays 10.15am Family Eucharist with crèche area in church. We also hold an Afternoon Service on the first Sunday of each month, March to June and August to October at 4.30pm. <span> </span><span> </span>Thursday mornings at 10.00am we have a Said Eucharist in the Lady Chapel.
