CGOC Shetland is one of 10 operations centres plus the National Maritime Operations Centre which make up HM Coastguards National Search and Rescue network responding to emergencies on the shoreline and at sea within the UK Search and Rescue Region.
Her Majesty's Coastguard (HMCG) is a section of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency responsible for the initiation and co-ordination of all maritime search and rescue (SAR) within the UK Maritime Search and Rescue Region. This includes the mobilisation, organisation and tasking of adequate resources to respond to persons either in distress at sea, or to persons at risk of injury or death on the cliffs or shoreline of the United Kingdom.

Activities
Access to the building is restricted to guided tours. Tours will last approximately 90 minutes and will take a maximum of 6 people.
Booking is essential, so make sure to book early! Booking details will be uploaded here in the coming weeks.
Parking is restricted on site - Please park nearby at Knab Skate Park or Old Anderson High School bus stands.
Visitors should note that access may be denied in some circumstances as the coastguard station is a live operation centre.
