A large gabled villa, a showpiece in its heyday, with walled garden, exotic plants and private electricity supply. Extensive glazed outbuildings and a hall that was used by the community. This was the home of Sir William Watson Cheyne, assistant to Lord Lister, a pioneer in the field of antiseptic surgery.
