Lodberrie

Dublin Core

Title

Lodberrie

Description

The lodberries were used by merchants for trading (both legal and often illegal goods!). Though most are gone, this A-listed lodberrie, dated from c. 1772, is a stunning example of the buildings that once lined the waterfront. Shetland’s most photographed building, a visit to the Lodberrie offers not just the chance to see the non-domestic ground floor, including: workshop, skeo, cellar and courtyards, but also to learn about this history of Shetland’s traders.
