Description

Designed by Robert Stevenson, this was Shetland’s first lighthouse, built in 1821, perched atop the cliffs of Shetland’s most southerly point. Neo-classical light tower and flanking pavilions, engine house, keeper’s accommodation and foghorn. Plans to conserve the buildings and create a major visitor and educational facility will start next year.
