Civic Trusts have been established in Scotland for over 50 years, Stirling Civic Trust started in 1977. Trusts were set up to monitor planning applications to ensure that wherever possible, buildings of heritage interest and significance were preserved and/or restored. The key aims of Stirling Civic Trust are to: encourage high standards of architecture, planning and landscape design in the City of Stirling and its surroundings and; to encourage the preservation of existing features of architectural or historic interest and the preservation, development and improvement of features of general public amenity.
