The inscription translated from Latin reads ‘Here lies the Honorable man Master Walter Idil, Canon of the Churches of Aberdeen and Brechin, Licentate in Decrees, who gave twenty shillings to the Chaplains serving in the Choir for a Mass to be celebrated on Fridays, who died third July in the year (fourteen hundred and) sixty-eight, on whose soul God have mercy.
