The estate covers around 7,000 acres of land. The castle was rebuilt in 1791 by the architect James Playfair in the mansion house style and again in 1855 by David Bryce. After a fire 1921, the castle has been continuously rebuilt and adapted to modern conveniences. The castle today rents out apartments for holiday stays. The estate contains multiples spots of scientific interest, especially in its function of wildlife habitat. The castle further has paths laid out for scenic walks across the estate.
