Arbuthnot Museum, Peterhead
Dublin Core
Title
Description
Discover the wealth of Peterhead's maritime history in one of Aberdeenshire's oldest museums. The collections are housed in a pink granite 'Free Renaissance' style building, built in 1891-3 to a design by D and J. R. McMillan, funded in part by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.
It should be noted that whilst the building is accessible for those with wheelchairs the museum itself is not as it is accessed through a staircase with no alternative route, for those who cannot access the museum proper there is an interactive display on the ground level of the building where the museum's exhibits (excluding temporary exhibits) may be seen.
The museum itself does not have toilets but there is a public toilet at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the museum.
