In 1953 the house was bought by the architect and businessman Tommy Scott Sutherland who, after living in it for a couple of years, decided to donate the house and grounds to the School of Architecture which came to bear his name.? THe School moved from Schoolhill and the extended building was officially opened in 1957.?
