Comprises visitor portacabin and Royal Observer Corps underground monitoring post, manned until 1991. The primary function was to monitor and report on the effects of a nuclear attack as part of an extensive chain throughout the United Kingdom. This is the only monitoring post in the West of Scotland for public access. Access by climbing down a 15ft vertical steel ladder. Warm clothing and sensible shoes required.
