Greyfriars John Knox Church
Dublin Core
Title
Greyfriars John Knox Church
Description
The tower of the church forms an integral part of the massive granite facade of Marischal College. It was the building of Marshall MacKenzie's extension to Marischal College that led to the demolition of the original 16C Greyfriars Church. The East window of the present church incorporates tracery from the earlier building while areas of panelling in the church are made from pews taken from the East Kirk of St Nicholas. The Church is now known as Greyfriars John Knox Church following the closure of the church at Mounthooly and the joining of the two congregations.
