Joe and his wife have a number of renewable technologies along with energy efficiency measures installed in their home.

In 2001, they installed a wood-burning stove to save resources and generate heat with wood sourced from the surrounding grounds.

They later self-installed a solar water heating system that provides the home with roughly half of its hot water needs. Following this, they had a solar PV system installed.

They have a wood pellet boiler which is also the cooker.

The property also benefits from insulation to ensure that no heat escapes through un-insulated walls, floors and roof spaces.
