The Lucy Sanderson Cottages Homes were built as sheltered housing in a traditional Scots style using local stone. The houses were intended for retired mill-workers and were named after the wife of the mill owner James Sanderson.
The hall, with tower features stone carving by Phyllis Bone and Charles d'Orville Pilkington leads to the hall with murals by W R Lawson and M Caird.
