This listed Category A courthouse was completed in 1804 with a 100 foot high spire that dominates the Market Place.

Still occasionally used for special meetings and re-enacted court cases using original scripts from old court minutes.

Sir Walter Scott served here as Sheriff from 1803 until his death in 1832.
