Documentation can be found at http://github/MetsExport/ Alloa Old Kirkyard and Mar and Kellie Mausoleum <p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;" class="MsoNormal"> </p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;" class="MsoNormal">The parish church of St Mungo was established in the 14th century then enlarged and the tower raised in 1680-2. The mason was Tobias Bauchop, whose house still stands in Kirkgate. Around 1700, John, 6th Earl of Mar, built a private aisle with burial vault on the north side of the church. The old kirk became overcrowded and was condemned in 1816: it was mostly demolished and many stones reused to build the new parish church in Bedford Place.</p><p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;" class="MsoNormal"><br />Designed by James Gillespie Graham, the Mar &amp; Kellie Mausoleum was built on the site of the Mar Aisle. The original ceiling was painted brightly and decorated with flowers and Rococo panels.
