Description

Clackmannan was once the county town, where the Sheriff Court was held and where the Tolbooth was built in 1592. There will be guided walks around this fascinating historic town, led by members of the Heritage Group. The walks will look at the Stone of Mannan, the Mercat Cross, the remains of the Tolbooth, Clackmannan Tower and other important buildings and sites which help to tell the story of the town from which the county take its name.

Activities

The guided walks will start from the Town Hall. They will be partly suitable for people with mobility difficulties. Outdoor clothing and sensible footwear are essential, especially in case of bad weather.

Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available after the walks in the Craigrie Room, Clackmannan Town Hall, where there will also be a display about the Craigrie Lade system by Clackmannanshire Field Studies Society.
