Chapel of St John

Description

Founded in 1677, Lodge Canongate Kilwinning meets in the historic Chapel of St John, the oldest purpose-built Masonic meeting room in the world today dating from 1735. Throughout its long history, the Lodge has drawn members from all ages and walks of life, all of whom would agree that it is impossible not to be moved by the atmosphere that exists in the Chapel of St John. The spirit of many famous members pervades the place, including James Boswell, Rudyard Kipling and Robert Burns.
