Title
Edinburgh Gin Distillery and Visitor Centre
Description
The Edinburgh Gin distillery & visitor centre is situated beneath the Rutland Hotel.
Scottish architect Archibald Elliot designed the building in 1819. It was once the home to Joseph Lister, pioneer of antiseptic surgery and has been a listed building since 1970. It houses two custom made stills, Flora and Caledonia, that distill Edinburgh Gin. It details the history of Edinburghs 400 illegal stills in 1977 and the secrets behind the making of Edinburgh Gin.
